Greater Moncton (New Brunswick), November 23rd, 2017 – More than 350 business people attended the Growth Breakfast on the Prosperity of Greater Moncton, which took place this morning at Casino New Brunswick. The breakfast, held under the theme Endless Possibilities, brought together business leaders, elected officials and dignitaries.
“As the end of the year approaches, 3+ Corporation wanted to give members of the business community an opportunity to meet and get inspired. Business people are the true economic development drivers of the Greater Moncton region. It is important, if not essential, to give them a moment where they too can fill up on motivation. We had a full house this morning. That’s a clear sign that our business people appreciate this kind of activity”, says Éric Mourant, President and CEO of 3+ Corporation.
Robert Irving kicked the morning off as Chair of the Economic Leadership Council (ELC). He was followed by mayors of Moncton and Dieppe, Dawn Arnold and Yvon Lapierre, also members of the ELC. Riverview mayor Ann Seamans, who could not be present, had prepared a message for participants. The ELC is a part of 3+ Corporation and was created to guide the corporation in its role as a catalyzer for Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview’s economic development.
Attendees then got the chance to hear from the guest speakers, each from unique backgrounds, who currently work within important organizations in the Greater Moncton region:
The speakers presented their vision for the future prosperity of Greater Moncton, based on their own experiences, communities and ambitions. Even if their visions varied, they all had one thing in common: Greater Moncton’s business community is and always will be stronger if it is united, and if all take an active part in its development. Their words also put into perspective the diversity of cultures and experiences that form the region’s business community today. The event was brilliantly emceed by Jessica Kennedy.
In his closing remarks, the president and CEO of 3+ Corporation took stock of the past year. “2017 was a year of intense, but enriching work for the region and for 3+ Corporation. Making new investments, such as those with TD Bank, collaborating with dozens of small businesses and managing complex challenges such as labour availability and infrastructure needs – all of these accomplishments were at the heart of our action. We also worked towards the emergence of new economic sectors for our region. Altogether, it was a very successful year for the Greater Moncton region”, explains Éric Mourant.
“But 2017 is also the year we decided to redefine the economic development of Greater Moncton’s business community. Throughout the year, the teams at 3+ Corporation and the cities of Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview worked hand in hand to write a new chapter of regional collaboration that will surely have positive impact in the years to come”, concludes Mr. Mourant.
3+ Corporation also took this opportunity to announce that Martin Haynes would begin his mandate as new Chair of 3+ Corporation, replacing James Lockyer, who has occupied this position since 2014. In addition, Robert Irving, the current Chair of the Economic Leadership Council, will be replaced by Bernard Lord.
